Writing Coach

My goal as a writing coach is to provide scholars, independent thinkers, and novice writers with tips on how to hone their argument and communicate with a wider audience. For writers who can be too wordy and overly complex, I teach the lesson of writing, “Half long. Twice strong.” Learn to tighten up your writing skills and speak with greater precision.

Get critical feedback from an experienced writer and scholar. Gain confidence in your voice. Keep accountable to your writing goals. I can help you get a project past the finish line.

Projects I can help with:

  • Book chapters
  • Articles
  • Dissertations
  • MA thesis
  • Grant writing
  • Outline for a new project

I bring my experience as an editor for multiple publications, reviewer for academic presses, ghostwriter for nationally known authors, and as a fellow writer actively freelancing my own work.

I specialize in social movements, race, and cultural studies. I also have extensive experience working with archival materials.

Rates and Work Flow

I typically charge $35/hour. Total costs can depend on the length of the manuscript project. I prefer to make an initial assessment and provide you with an estimate before I start to work.

I’m willing to read and provide feedback for a single piece of writing, or multiple drafts. As you work on a project, I am available to schedule meetings as needed to discuss revisions and new directions. I’m happy to find a work flow that fits for you!
